Rachel’s thoughts | Success

August 26, 2018

What does Success mean to you?  Sit back and really think about that.  Is it being rich?  Is it being the best parent possible?  Is it making your dream come true?  Every single person looks at success differently and I think they should.  If someone that you know looks or seems successful, then don’t be jealous, be grateful for them!  Most people who get “successful”, worked hard and figured out what works and what didn’t.

My husband is going to school to get his degree in Computer Science.  I am very proud of him and I also know that during this time of our lives that I will be the one to bring home most of the money to provide, but I knew that when I married him.  I also know that my husband isn’t lazy and that he does what he puts his mind too.  My husband also is building him a Nova from scratch, that is his dream and I support him for that too.  Why am I telling you this? I know that being the best husband Joseph can be, is his success.  He dosent want us to struggle like we did growing up, so hes going to school.  I also know that he has a dream and he will sacrifice his dream for a minute so that his family is taken care of.

Leaving on that last sentence, I want to share my goals and dreams.  Success to me in my lifetime as of today’s date, is being the best wife, to be a mother, to write a book and for my photography business to be vibrant.  I want my business to help support my family and one day, be my only job.  I want to be able to wake up everyday and spend time with my family and do what I love the most, that is what will be my success.  So together Joseph and I know that we are partners in this life and we want the other to be happy.

Joseph knows that hes pursuing his dream and even though times are tight with money right now, he still pushes me to pursue mine.  I am so proud of him and proud of myself for believing in me.  Like I have mentioned before, I started my business 9 years ago and because I couldn’t get clients or no one wanted to do a mini session, I felt rejected and didn’t think I was good enough.  I cant say that I wasn’t good enough, but I have to say that I didn’t really do the work that I should have or needed too.  After learning so much (and still have alot to learn), I needed to find myself and how I wanted my business to go, so I can make a name for myself.  I needed to find my style, brand, logo, even the clients that I want to work with.

Now I am not where I want to be, but I am on the road to getting there and I can honestly say I am proud of myself. One thing I want you to remember is that whatever dream or goal you want to reach, don’t look at others and get intimidated.  Your journey and the way you get there will be different than another persons.  If you want to lose 50 pounds, you may do it differently than your friend who did, cause it worked for them, but its not the way it would work for you.  You may have to try 10 different ways, but don’t give up.  Also each persons success is different.  My success for my business is to help my family financially, get out of debt, meet new people and make friends, and capture peoples lives to where they are just so overjoyed with happiness.  Another photographers success may be to do 15 weddings a year and make $100,000.  I think they are both great if that’s what that person wants.

Its good to look at another’s success and be proud and hopefully it motivates you.  I just wanted to share that today, its been on my heart as my friends and family have been pushing themselves to be better in whatever their goals and dreams are.  I am so happy and ecstatic and support them all 100%, I may even ask for help, nothing wrong with that too!!
